CAMBRIDGE – In the build up to the Summer Olympics in Rio, swimwear equipment developer Arena says its carbon fibre technology for high performance swimsuits has “reached a new level” after a long-standing partnership with British tech firm Innovia Technology. The new range of ‘Powerskin Carbon-Ultra’ garments feature an ‘Ultra-Cage’, where increased carbon presence on the inside of the suit provides an anisotropic response (stretchable in one direction, but stiff in another), which allows for pressure to distribute accurately and conform to an athlete’s shape and streamline the body’s movements in the water.
