LEEDS – The Future Fashion Factory (FFF), a UK initiative introduced last year to equip British business with the latest in automated and digitised apparel manufacturing solutions, has recruited its 100th industry partner; a milestone met in less than ten months.
One of nine initiatives selected to receive funding through the Creative Clusters Programme, the FFF received a cash injection of £5.5 million in October of last year that would serve to anchor future developments.
The addition of Wyedean Weaving Co Ltd, a West Yorkshire mill, represents a tenfold rise in support during the initiative’s relatively short existence. The founding institutes – the Universities of Leeds and Huddersfield, the Royal College of Art and the Textile Centre of Excellence – only counted ten core partners late last year, including fashion house Burberry.
