WASHINGTON – The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) has released its sixth annual Fashion Industry Benchmarking study to gauge the outlook of leading brands, retailers, importers and wholesalers in the country amidst the ongoing trade war with China.
Conducted in conjunction with Dr Sheng Lu, Associate Professor in the University of Delaware Department of Fashion & Apparel Studies, the survey probed 39 US firms on their future expectations with regards to sourcing practices, the utilisation of Free Trade Agreements and preference programmes, views on trade policy and their broader business outlook.
Findings of which indicate that many of the companies surveyed, 71 per cent of which have more than 1,000 employees and 50 per have over 5,000, are pessimistic about its native fashion industry’s future.
